Our editorial purpose
Home Routine Guide exists to help homeowners organize decisions and understand routine property care. Our content is educational and practical. It is not a substitute for an on-site evaluation, local code requirements, manufacturer instructions, licensed trade advice, or emergency services.
Source hierarchy
We prefer sources in roughly this order:
- Federal, state, and local government agencies
- Current manufacturer instructions and technical documentation
- Recognized standards and safety organizations
- Licensed or credentialed professional organizations
- Original interviews, expert review, and documented testing
- High-quality secondary reporting when a primary source is unavailable
We do not treat retailer descriptions, affiliate-network copy, anonymous forum posts, or AI-generated summaries as sufficient evidence for safety or performance claims.
How articles are prepared
Each substantive guide should identify the reader’s practical question, define the limits of the page, research relevant primary sources, separate observation from diagnosis, and explain when professional help may be appropriate. We aim to use plain language without removing important safety context.
Use of artificial intelligence
AI tools may assist with outlining, editing, code, organization, and research discovery. AI output is not treated as a source. Factual claims intended for publication should be checked against reliable sources, and safety-sensitive instructions should receive additional scrutiny before publication.
Professional review
As the publication grows, pages involving electrical, structural, plumbing, fuel-burning, fire-safety, environmental, legal, insurance, or financial topics may be reviewed by appropriately qualified professionals. When professional review occurs, the reviewer’s role and review date should be disclosed on the page.

Updates and review dates
Important guides display a reviewed or updated date. A date means the page was checked for material accuracy and relevance at that time; it does not guarantee that every external source or local rule remains unchanged. Readers should verify current local requirements and manufacturer documentation.
